The Immigrant Investor, or EB-5 program, is one of the most flexible immigration schemes in the world. It doesn’t require that you start or run a business there yourself, nor does it have age or language restrictions. You don’t have to live there permanently, nor do you have to be working. And if you are working, you’re not limited to a specific sector.
To apply, you need to invest US$500,000 in a government approved Regional Centre for five years.
As long as you maintain your residency, you’re free to travel in and out of the country and stay involved in businesses and other commitments in your country of origin. Also, your children pay residents’ school fees if they attend a state or public university - a substantial savings compared to out-of-state tuition.
With 3,000 green cards from this program available each year and with a minimal waiting list, this program allows you to obtain permanent US residency if:
- You invest US$500,000* in an approved US Regional Centre for five years
- You invest in a Centre that proves direct or indirect employment of 10 workers per investor
- Your source of funds is legal
- You are in good health
*processing and legal fees applicable
